NAZA KIA Malaysia Launched The All-New SPORTAGE

2011 Naza Kia Sportage

Kuala Lumpur, June 21 - Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of Kia Motors vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the award-winning and highly anticipated all-new Sportage.

The all-new Sportage offers a more urban and fluid silhouette than its predecessor as well as increased levels of performance, efficiency, comfort, convenience and the latest in-vehicle technologies.

The all-new Sportage retains the functionality and versatility of the previous generation model but repackages the SUV with a sleek, modern and bold style.

With a high beltline, sweeping angles and pronounced wheel flares, the all-new Sportage’s award-winning design conveys a modern and athletic appearance. Its full-sectioned body is defined by a spearing shoulder line throughout the length of the car which visually connects the headlamps and tail lights.

The all-new Sportage features Kia’s signature grille while its dynamically sculpted hood adds a fresh appeal to the SUV, which is longer, wider and lower than its predecessor. In particular, its wider stance, along with its 18-inch alloy wheels, gives the all-new Sportage a muscular stance while its LED daytime running lights is a feature that distinguishes the SUV from other models in its segment.

Inside, the all-new Sportage offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-start ignition, leather seats, dual-zone temperature control air-conditioner with ionized filtration, an illuminated and cooled glove box as well as an eight-way electronically-powered seat for the driver.

Other key features inside the all-new Sportage includes a six-CD changer connected to a sound system comprising two tweeters, four door speakers and one sub-woofer. The all-new Sportage comes with AUX, USB, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

The overall ambience in the all-new Sportage is further enhanced by its panoramic sunroof which can be partially retracted.

Under the hood, the SUV is powered by Kia’s latest fuel efficient Theta II 2.0 petrol engine which features dual CVVT (continuous variable valve timing) which produces 166 PS and 197 Nm of torque. This engine is fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The all-new Sportage features an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system which continuously monitors driving conditions and anticipates AWD system requirements which in turn offers improved lateral stability while cornering as well as reducing unwanted traction to the front and rear axles. The AWD system is aimed at achieving increased torque and improved performance on varied surfaces.

During normal driving conditions, the AWD system delivers 100% of engine torque to the front wheels to enhance fuel economy. However, when wheel slippage is detected, a certain percentage of engine torque is transferred to the rear wheels. There is also a four-wheel drive (4WD) lock mode with the torque split 50:50 for low traction surfaces.

For ride and handling, the all-new Sportage features MacPherson struts at the front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension as well as an amplitude selective damper which facilitates instant reaction in wheel movement and maintains optimal damping and level quality. This in turn leads to more precise road contact, better ride comfort and increased handling precision.

Comfort in the all-new Sportage is further enhanced through the use of improved frame rigidity and stronger wheel house reinforcement for less penetrating road noise.

In terms of safety, the all-new Sportage has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes with six airbags, ABS, EBD, Downhill Brake Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Assist System and a Traction Control System.

Other key features of the all-new Sportage include headlamp escort (whereby the headlamps remain turned on for 30 seconds after the engine has been turned off), integrated LED turn signals on the side mirrors, rear view camera display on the rear view mirror, auto headlights, electronic chromic mirror, rear parking assist system, auto cruise control and a small turning radius.

“The all-new Sportage raises the bar in the compact SUV segment and it is not surprising that it has been Kia’s second bestselling vehicle outside South Korea,” said Datuk Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar, COO of Naza Kia Malaysia.

The all-new Sportage will be available in techno orange, sand track, mineral silver, bright silver and clear white.

The all-new Sportage has won numerous awards since its global launch in mid-2010. Among these awards include the 2011 Red Dot Design Award in Germany, the 2011 iF Product Design Award, “2010 Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the US, “Best Crossover” by Ruedas ESPN, “International Truck of the Year” by Road and Travel Magazine and “Best New Model” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

All-New 2010 Nissan MURANO - Sporty and Luxury

All-New 2010 Nissan MURANO

The Murano has a width of 1885mm, height of 1730mm and a wheelbase of 2825mm. I was amazed by the available amount of space inside the car. Rear passengers can enjoy ample headroom and legroom while there will be no problem fitting 3 adults at the back. Materials used for the interior were top-notch and there were a lot of soft touch padding on the dashboard and door panels. Moreover, the black interior with chromes in the right places gave the interior a classy feel.

The Murano continues to be powered by the 3.5 liter version of the VQ engine. This engine produces 260bhp and 336Nm of torque and an ALL MODE 4×4-i all-wheel drive system is used to power the car. It is also equipped with Nissan’s XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that delivers consistent gear shifting, smooth, effortless acceleration and great fuel economy.

Murano didn’t fail in the safety department too! It is equipped with 6 airbags, active head restraints, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and zone body construction with pedestrian-injury reduction to mitigate impact of the heads and chests of pedestrians. These will ensure the car protects you and your passengers when an imminent impact will happen.

Priced at RM330,000, it goes head to head with the more expensive Lexus RX350 and the cheaper Mazda CX-7. However, with a solid foundation Murano has in Malaysia, Nissan shouldn’t be worried on its sales performance.

All-New Mitsubishi ASX Now Available for Booking

Mitsubishi ASX

October 06, 2010

Stylish compact crossover launching soon

The new ASX compact crossover from Mitsubishi Motors has been creating waves across the world. This exciting global car will reach Malaysian shores very soon. Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the importer and distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles, has announced that it will begin collecting bookings for the ASX from 8 October onwards.

The all-new ASX compact crossover is expected to be officially launched in early November 2010.

The ASX's key concept is 'Smart-Sized'- more compact than a conventional SUV, but larger than a compact car with a higher seating position, thus striking a fine balance between the two. Passenger car handling and agility from an SUV's vantage point as well as utility are not sacrificed - the ASX offers both.

The ASX will be powered by a 2.0-litre 16-valve engine with Mitsubishi's proprietary MIVEC system. This modern DOHC power plant has 150 PS of power and 197 Nm of torque. It will be paired with an INVECS-III CVT gearbox with 6-step Sports Mode.

Equipment levels are generous. The ASX comes with standard Active Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Assist and dual front airbags plus a driver's knee airbag. Also included are leather seats, a 2-DIN wide touch screen audio system, reverse camera, automatic air-conditioning and cruise control are luxurious extras. A full-colour LCD multi-information system in the instrument panel complete the vision of perfection.

Available in five colours, the estimated price for a fully-imported Mitsubishi ASX from Japan is RM140,000.00 (Peninsular Malaysia). For more information, please visit your nearest Mitsubishi Motors showroom, log-on to www.mitsubishi-motors.com.my or call the Mitsubishi Motors Customer Care Line at 03 7622 2202.

All-New Nissan X-Trail Gets Upgrade

2010 All-New Nissan X-Trail
At a glance, the vehicle looks no different from the previous model. But if you take a closer look, you will find a new chassis, powertrain and interior.
Everything from the high-quality materials used in the interior to the soft-touch cockpit finishing exudes a premium feel. This feeling of luxury is further enhanced by the classy chrome finish on the instrument panel, door handles and gear placement.
Set the ignition to “On” and the X-Trail comes to life. The multi-information display comes on to reveal range, fuel and mileage details in a soft amber hue. One outstanding creature-comfort feature is powered seats. Both front seats can be adjusted to a preferred sitting position with just a push of two dedicated knobs.

And when it comes to combining aesthetics with functionality, the X-Trail scores top marks. The large cabin area lends an airy feel, but it’s also packed with ingenious features for driver and passenger comfort.
Engine choices are also changed from two to one as only a 2-litre petrol engine is available. This is the MR20DE 4-cylinder engine, different from the one in the first X-Trail which had a QR-series engine. The all-aluminium MR engine series was jointly developed by Nissan and Renault and is used in the French carmaker’s models too. The 2-litre version for the new X-Trail produces 139 bhp/198 Nm and has enhanced efficiency with variable valve timing. It’s actually the same RON95-compatible engine as found in the Sylphy (but tweaked for enhanced torque) and like the sedan, it also uses Nissan’s XTRONIC CVT with 6 speeds.

The SUV’s engine and transmission also ensure superior fuel economy. Tests have shown that the X-Trail’s average fuel consumption is a healthy 14km per litre (Japan 10-15 mode) - and this is comparable to that of many sedans on the road today.
These include bi-xenon headlamps for improved visibility at night and during bad whether; an intelligent system for true keyless entry and startups; enhanced audio system with MP3 playback, six virtual CDs, USB port, AUX jack, SD Card connectivity, Bluetooth function and Telephone Control Input; as well as dual air bags, ABS, BA (Brake Assist) and six-star safety rating by the Japanese New Car Assessment Programme.
The on-the-road price for the X-Trail is RM149,500 for Peninsular Malaysia.

2010 Hyundai Tucson : Sporty and Aggressive

2010 Hyundai Tucson

Out on the road, the Hyundai Tucson has an aggressive, stable stance that sets it apart from many other small CUVs. And when not on the road, the bold and unique style make it that much easier to find in the parking lot. You can’t miss the sculpted hood, wrap-around headlights and rear roof spoiler that make it look both refined and ready. The 2010 Hyundai Tucson’s panoramic sunroof with celestial views that extend from the driver seat to the rear passengers’. It’s a first of many Hyundai firsts.

The Hyundai Tucson is the smallest CUV in the Hyundai lineup, but you wouldn’t think so given its airy cabin, comfortable seating and the long list of standard and available equipment. In fact, you might just begin to think that smaller is, in fact, better.

When it came time to design the Tucson’s all-wheel drive system, we turned to JTEKT. This AWD system is made up of an ITCC (Intelligent Torque Controlled Coupling) that measures variables such as wheel speed, throttle position and brake signal to determine how much torque to distribute between the front and rear wheels. This is based on driving and road conditions, and constantly adjusts the distribution of torque. It is also electronically controlled to help improve fuel efficiency.

An all-wheel drive system demands tires that offer proper traction, so the Tucson’s standard 18 inch tires on Limited have a tread pattern that gives you increased mud- and snow-capability.

Powerful yet fuel efficient, the Tucson’s thrifty 2.4L 4 cylinder engine goes the extra mile for you. On less fuel. Using features that maximize fuel economy, your Tucson works smarter, not harder. The automatic equipped Tucson has an overdrive lock-up torque for better fuel economy at highway speeds and an Eco Indicator providing driver feedback for lower fuel consumption. And the manual transmission Tucson has the Eco gear shift indicator that senses the optimum time for gear change.

Perodua NAUTICA: Specs and Review

The Kembara’s successor - the Perodua Nautica 4WD was launched today and Perodua seems to be approaching it differently, bringing it as a premium product imported from Japan (a first for a Perodua) with only one variant priced at RM89,900 OTR with insurance. The Perodua Nautica is essentially a Perodua-badged version of the short wheelbase Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush. The front bumper and grille is different, and these along with the rear bumper are made locally in Malaysia, while the rest of the car comes completely assembled from Japan.

The longitudinally mounted 1.5 liter DVVT engine is the 3SZ-VE producing 109hp at 6,000rpm and 141Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. This engine is also found in the Rush and Avanza 1.5. It is mated to a single overdrive 4-speed automatic, and a full-time 4WD system which has a centre differential lock which can be activated from a button on the dashboard. It locks so that the front and rear axles rotate at the same speed.

The shifter for the 4-speed automatic is located in a more conventional position between the two front seats, unlike another more premium-looking design which is available which positions it at an angle more towards the dashboard, allowing it to be much more closer to the steering wheel so that hand movements between the steering wheel and shifter is minimal.

Time for some dimensions - the Perodua Nautica weighs 1,200kg, is 4115mm long, 1695mm wide and 1740mm high. Interior space is 1800mm long, 1385mm wide and 1240mm high. The width between the front passengers is 700mm, and seat height is 740mm. The wheels are 16 inch alloys with 215/65R16 tyres. The cargo area takes 380 liters, and the rear seats can be folded down for more luggage capacity.
