Refreshed Honda City unveiled

Honda Malaysia has unveiled a revamped Honda City which features several new enhancements and a five-year unlimted mileage warranty.

The popular sedan powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, gets a new front chrome grille and bumper to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics and to differentiate it from earlier versions.

Sold in the entry-level S and premium E grades, the City also gets an instrument panel ECO indicator that lights up when the vehicle is driven efficiently.

The instrument panel lighting is blue now instead of amber previously.

A new safety feature is ISOFIX child seat mounting points for rear seats in addition to the dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist that are already available in the earlier variants.

The E grade has additional equipment over the S grade such as vehicle stability assist, paddle shifters, power retractable wing mirrors, wing mirrors with turn indicators, fog lamps and a size up 16-inch alloy wheels.

The E grade comes with an on-the-road with insurance price of RM90,980 while the S grade is cheaper at RM85,980.

The City is available in five colours - Sparkling Brown Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Taffeta White.

New Toyota VIOS 1.5 Limited - Upgraded

The New Toyota Vios 1.5G Limited is an enhancement of the G variant that comes with newly designed aerokits, new front grille with and dark silver coloured 15 inch rim.

The other Toyota Vios variants also were refreshed with several upgraded features as well as an introduction of a new colour, the Deep Amethyst Mica Metallic to the whole range.

"We are confident that the Vios will be more desirable with the new improvements made. At the same time, it will continue to offer good value with quality, performance and reliability that our customers expect from the Toyota brand," said En. Ismet Suki.

The New Toyota Vios 1.5G Limited is valued at RM89,600 (on-the-road price with insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia). As for the other improved Toyota Vios variants, they will be sold at the current price. All variants are covered with a warranty period of three years or 100,000 kilometer, whichever comes first.

The New Toyota Vios 1.5G Limited will be available at all Toyota showrooms throughout Peninsular Malaysia with effect from 1st July, 2011 and 15th July, 2011 in Sabah and Sarawak.

Honda Accord 2011 - Upgraded Facelift

PETALING JAYA: The Honda Accord is dressed up differently for 2011.

Here are briefly the changes:

> Chrome front grill and bumper;

> Front corner sensors;

> Rear chrome trunk lid;

> Cabin tweaks such as thicker floor mat for improved insulation and leather steering wheel for VTi-L and VTi;

> 17” alloy wheel design (2.4-litre VTi-L only)
and;

> Jack-knife key

The three variants are still sold at the same prices with the 2.0-litre VTi at RM142,800; 2.0-litre VTi-L at RM149,800; and 2.4-litre VTi-L at RM172,800.

The Accord is available in five colours with Celestial Blue Metallic being new. Other existing hues are Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl.

Honda Civic Mugen RR - Review The Performance

The Honda Civic Mugen RR is another great performance model with a limited build of only three hundred cars. All three hundred cars sold out in minutes of being released. It is said to be the ultimate Civic, relying on its speed and stylish nature for a front wheel drive car. Because of the lighter and faster design, the Mugen RR may well become the best front wheel drive performance car on the market.

Mugen, the Japanese company used their knowledge of racing mechanics while designing this car. Car Enthusiast called it the “best factory tuned Honda that money can buy.” The Honda Civic Mugen RR is said to be much like the street legal version of the Super Taikyu Championship Civics.

The added speed is tribute to the extra power the Mugen RR was endowed with. In comparison to the Civic R, the horsepower is increased, the chassis is sharper and the weight reduced. The engine can easily get up to 160km per hour. The RR not only has a powerful engine, but also has a dual exhaust system that lets you know when it’s coming.

The RR is ten kilograms lighter than the R because of the expensive, unique carbon fiber body parts, including the front bumper and spoiler. The suspension alterations also lowered the ride height. From the exterior, the RR does not differ much from the basic R model. The Mugen RR has a wider body, hood air ducts, a new front grill and spoiler and eighteen inch black rims, with specially designed Potenza RE070 tires, which contribute to the great look of the exterior of the RR model.

When one looks at the numbers on paper, the RR doesn't seem too impressive. Since this car is front wheel drive, the front wheels both steer and drive the car. The Mugen RR was made more aerodynamic than RR model, giving the car a much faster response at the wheel.

The interior is more personalized, and looks more like the interior of an real race car. The Alcantara carbon covered sports seats replace the bucket seats in the R model, and they require you to be smaller and in good physical stature to sit comfortably. The radio has been replaced with oil and water temperature and pressure gages. The pedals are modified for the driver, and a personalized plaque with the car number is added to the shifter column.

The best thing about the RR model is the fine tuned steering. Every move is precise, and with each corner taken, the RR provides the driver with precision and confidence. If you’re looking for a sporty, fast car for the right price, sporty look, great performance, exclusivity and exceptional handling, then the Honda Civic Mugen RR is right up your alley. Although it lacks security equipment and can be uncomfortable inside, the attention to racing detail by Mugen makes the Honda Civic Mugen RR tops many people’s wish lists.

Toyota Altis 2.0-Litre With CVT

Toyota Corolla Altis has been given new facelift and together with an additional 2.0-litre engine variant to its existing 1.8- and 1.6-litre range, dual variable valve timing technology at the engine’s inlet and outlet valves and a seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) that offers seamless "gear" shifting and better fuel economy.

There are four variants availables which is 2.0V, 1.8G, 1.8E and 1.6E. And only 1.6E, the base-level version will get the four-speed Super ECT automatic transmission while the rest are equipped with the CVT "gearbox."

The new upgrades also include seat materials, and front grille with head and tail lamp styling that project sportier looking four-door car.

A light grey and beige dual tone interior is used to inject a luxury feel and higher-end variant such as the 2.0V and 1.8G get wood grain interior trimmings and leather steering wheel.


Toyota Corolla Altis 2.0V also has additional goodies such as high intensity discharge headlights in smoked housings, cruise control and a sporty three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom and paddle shifters.

Standard items across the range include dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. The 2.0V and 1.8G variants will have the additional vehicle stability control.

This new facelifted Toyota Altis are imported from Thailand with various of colours - Black Mica, Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metallic and White Pearl. It is will be available at all Toyota showrooms throughout Peninsular Malaysia from Sept 24. Customers in Sabah and Sarawak can see the Altis from Oct 1.

On-the-road with insurance prices for the 2.0V, 1.8G, 1.8E and 1.6E variants in Peninsular Malaysia (individual private registration) are RM131,990, RM122,990

Proton EXORA Unveiled With New Facelift

No changes to the mechanicals and running gear, with the 1.6l Campro CPS block continuing as is with 125bhp and 150Nm in the MPV, which is available in Base, Medium and High-line variants in both manual and automatic transmission form.

All three variants feature a brand new interior colour theme, steering wheel finishing and door inner handle finish. The High-line variant benefits from the most number of refinements - these include a new centre panel and panel shift lever finishing, chrome garnish for the fog lamps, door visors, as well as a boot organiser.

Both the High and Medium-line variants also come factory-fitted with new design 15-inch alloy wheels and all-round body kit.

The Exora is available in five colour choices, these being Genetic Silver, Solid White, Tranquility Black, Blue Haze and Plum Red (for the Medium and High-line).

Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd will initially produce 25 units of its newly-launched Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing Edition.

Its managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the national carmaker had so far received 11 bookings for the model.

"This car was specially designed to commemorate the Lotus Formula One racing team. We intend to do it in limited edition," he told reporters after the model was launched by Proton''s adviser Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad here today.

"Initially we will produce 25 units in line with our 25-year anniversary celebrations," he said.

Syed Zainal Abidin said Proton would increase the volume of the Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing edition if the model received good response.

The company, he said, also planned to exports the model to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia.

Inspired by the spirit of Lotus Racing, the car is powered by Proton's race-proven 1.6-litre CamPro CPS engine, and re-tuned by R3 for more power and torque utilising its Engine Management System, performance camshafts, carbon fibre air-intake and titanium exhaust headers.

The Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing Edition is currently available at RM115,000.

R3, which stands for "Race, Rally and Research, is Proton's motorsport division specialising in the research, development and production of race cars and performance parts.

Special Edition Lancer 2.0GTS Introduced

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has introduced a limited run of what's been tagged the Special Edition Lancer 2.0GTS.

The car, limited to only 100 units, features a number of dress-up items, these being mostly on the exterior - there's a a rear airdam and diffuser, carbon fibre add-ons to the rear spoiler and sideskirts, as well as a new gun metal finish to the alloy wheels.

Inside, the seats feature a redesigned race-styled Nappa leather pattern, with red and orange stitching, and the gear knob gets the red stitch working as well. No change to the mechanicals, so it's more a case of merely adding on the looker treatment.
The SE Lancer is available in two colours, Red Metallic and Black Mica, and is priced at RM 123,046 on-the-road, without insurance. And if you decide that a SE is it, you get a limited-edition Ralliart jacket with that purchase. You'll find the car in all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms as of tomorrow.

Toyota Vios TRD Sportivo Launched In Malaysia

UMW Toyota Motor has introduced a new Vios variant called the TRD Sportivo into the market. The vehicle replaces the current 1.5S model in the lineup, with the other existing versions, the 1.5G, 1.5E, 1.5J automatic and 1.5J manual, continuing unchanged.

The variant, a joint development between UMW Toyota Motor and TRD Asia, features a TRD package made up of a host of accessories; there are no changes to the mechanicals of the auto-transmission-only model.

Externally, there's a TRD Sportivo five-piece aerokit (polyurethane front and rear bumpers as well as sideskirts and a rear spoiler made of ABS), exclusive 15-inch 10-spoke Enkei alloy wheels that are 10% lighter than the standard 15-inch alloys, tinted door visors and a TRD Sportivo emblem.

Inside, it's all down to trim, in this case, carbon-fibre patterned inserts for the centre console and armrest panels, a new texture black/red fabric trim for the seats and door panels (replete with TRD Sportivo logo on the front seats), a sports gear knob, as well as carpet mats and stainless steel door scuff plates, all wearing the TRD Sportivo emblem.

There's also a TRD suspension kit available as an optional accessory; the RM3,150 add-on - consisting of coil springs and gas-filled shocks with revised damper rates and a reduced ride height of 10mm - was seen on the TRD evaluation mule that was around earlier in the year, but UMW Toyota has decided not to make it standard issue in the final package, primarily to keep the cost down.

Six colour choices are available, these being Silver Metallic, Coal Black, White, Grey Mica, Bronze Metallic and a new signature shade for this variant called Medium Silver Metallic.

The Vios TRD Sportivo package comes with a 3-year/100,000km warranty (whichever occurs first, after original registration), and installation will be carried out by UMW Toyota at its own facility.

The estimated on-the-road price (with insurance, in Peninsular Malaysia) of the Vios TRD Sportivo is RM90,900. While bookings for the model have opened, display vehicles will only be available in the showroom from July 17, though it will be available for viewing at the special TRD booth in Sepang this weekend (July 20-21), when the Super GT race hits town.
