All-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport For An Active Lifestyle

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the sole and exclusive distributor for the Mitsubishi brand country-wide, has officially launched the Pajero Sport GL, a rear-wheel-drive variant of the original four-wheel-drive Pajero Sport, which has been renamed Pajero Sport GS. At RM 145,467.80 (OTR without insurance), the Pajero Sport GL is substantially cheaper than the RM 158,609.80 Pajero Sport GS.

On the outside, Pajero Sport GL sports a black honeycomb grille (chrome bar grille for GS) and six-spoke 16" wheels (17" for GS). Inside, the cabin comes with chocolate-brown leather seats (beige for GS), and loses the faux wood inserts on the dashboard and the four-wheel-drive gear lever.

New to both model variants is a built-in reverse camera that complements the existing 2-DIN touch-screen entertainment system with DVD/CD/MP3/AAC playback ability and USB/iPod/Bluetooth connectivity. Safety equipments include dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and front seatbelt pretensioners.

The 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine with 134 bhp at 3500 rpm and 314 Nm at 2000 rpm remains paired to a four-speed automatic with Sport Mode, which acts as a manual override. Power only goes to the rear wheels for Pajero Sport GL, and all four wheels for Pajero Sport GS.

Like its truck counterpart, the Triton, Pajero Sport GL is underpinned by a ladder frame chassis, with double-wishbone suspension at the front. But Triton’s rear leaf-spring suspension makes way for an independent three-link suspension. The brakes up front are ventilated discs and drums at the rear (disc brakes for GS).
